The development of electronic payment has brought new excitement to payments industry. The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) is working closely with the industry to develop a Faster Payment System (FPS). Through the FPS, participating banks and stored value facility (SVF) operators can provide real-time credit transfer and real-time direct debit services to facilitate payments between merchants and customers, as well as peer-to-peer fund transfers.
