The term "Creative Industry" has become a fashionable and popular buzzword these days. Yet, most people still approach creativity and innovation in a very traditional manner. The theme of CVCF 2008 is to show ways to be creative in business in an unexpected way, or to unleash and develop creativity in an unusual way. CVCF 2008 will invite investors and investees who have gone through the unusual and unexpected value creation experience to share their insights. Prominent international speakers will also discuss how to conceive new business ideas, by coming up with what may seem like crazy creative ideas long before these inspirations become obvious to others as successful business concepts.
The dotcom era has forced many business sectors, e.g. ICT and new media, to re-think their core value propositions not just in terms of developing and bringing products and services to the market but also in terms of company management, capital requirement, and new business leverages for success. Companies like Alibaba.com, Google, Mac's iPod, Netflix, Tencent and YouTube are all examples of companies whose entrepreneurial founders had taken great risk to do something totally different and by doing so changed the gestalt of their industry sector and at the same time changed our world.
CVCF 2008 will take a close look at how investors and entrepreneurs in the ICT and media industries work together to develop and build innovative "contrarian" companies that can change the dynamics of doing business. Moreover, integrating creative lateral business thinking with tolerance, passion, confidence and other effective business qualities can and will change the world in which we live, making it a better place for everyone!
